Our Pastoral Leaders:
Pastor: Rev. Joseph A. Salerno
The Rev. Joseph Salerno is a native Utican. He is presently the Pastor of Mary, Mother Of Our Savior in New Hartford. Educated locally, he claims Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish as the Catholic parish of his beginnings.
Fr. Joe holds a B.A. degree in Sociology from Maryknoll College and a Master of Divinity Degree from St. Michael’s College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He has worked at various assignments in the Diocese of Syracuse during his more then 32 years as a Catholic Priest. Locally, he has sat on the boards of Hope House and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and he is currently chaplain to both the Utica Police and Fire Departments.

Our parish trustees are a consultative body, also composed of appointed parishioners with an expertise in finance. They monitor all income and expenditures of the parish and advise on how all parish funds are being utilized. Additionally, they are also responsible for the safeguarding of all physical property and equipment that may be entrusted to the parish. Our trustees meet regularly and are also active members of both the Finance Committee and the Pastoral Council. Our trustees are Liz Kearns and Karen Stanislaus.
Our Finance Committee:
Our Finance Committee is chaired by Anthony Paolozzi. This consultative body is composed of those appointed parishioners who have demonstrated an expertise in finance. The body consults and advises our Pastor with respect to items such as the annual budget, financial reporting, long-term financial planning, debt and debt management, high-level expenditures, fund-raising, personnel administration and governmental regulatory matters. The Finance Committee meets monthly.
Our Pastoral Committee:
Our Pastoral Council is chaired by Honorine Wallack. Our Pastoral Council serves the parish as the principal advisory group to our Pastor. The council consists of parishioners who represent the various ministries of the parish. These individuals communicate the needs and interests of the parish community and assist our Pastor in accomplishing the parish mission through their knowledge, experience, and involvement in the community. The Pastoral Council meets monthly.
